HISTORY:

On August 10, 1969, one week before the Woodstock Festival in Bethel, NY, Jimi Hendrix took to the stage of the Tinker Street Cinema to join local Jazz Musicians, Gerry Velez, Juma Sultan, Randy Kaye, Earl Cross and members of Carlos Santana’s band. This jam session can be found on the interwebs, but video remains elusive.

Jimi’s set continues to stand as a badge of honor for Tinker Street Cinema and once again, Karma returns to bring the house down in the Havens name.

YOUR HOSTS:

Karma (Chogyi) Marco is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and M.D. from Woodstock NY.

Known for generosity of space, fluidity and richness, he adapts to a wide variety of musical experience, across many genres and styles. When not working on his own music, he is a member of 420 Funk Mob, Omar Hakim’s Sonic Boom Squad & Ozmosys. Along with a variety of side-man gigs, he has played with; Aaron Freeman (Ween), Jellybean Johnson (The Time), Eddie M (Sheila E, Prince) to name a few.

Karma is also the only second touring guitar player to play live with Bad Brains, supporting the legendary Dr. Know. This brought him to RIOT fest, Something In the Water, Growlers Fest stages and into the studio with Denzel Curry.

Closing out his third tour with Octavia Butler’s Parable Of The Sower—by Toshi Regon, with three sold-out shows at Lincoln Center last year, Juneteenth bought him back in 2024.

A Woodstock Lineage Holders Production—This event celebrates a 55th anniversary and pays honor to the reverberation of the Black-Indigenous Brilliance that, Inspired, Ceremoniously Grounded, Centered, Sustained and Closed the Woodstock Music & Arts Fair in 1969.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

Very little focus has been given to the cultural significance of those who inspired and soundtracked the awakening of the 60’s movements.

Indigenous, African, Asian, South American and earth rooted, land-based cultures are directly responsible for awakening what is now known as the hippie movement. The tenets continue to be illusive to western raised humans, as seekers find appropriated versions reflected back by the industrialized medicine of cultures who are still being actively erased.

Honor.
